Panel Discussion

Plains District Museum 176 Main Street, Timberville, Virginia, United States

The museum host a panel of local veterans led by Joe T. May, whose research led to the creation of the museum’s digital library collection of veterans who died on foreign soil during war time. Panel members include: Bev Garber, Edgar Harper, Tom Pruitt, and John Yeich.

A Visual Presentation of the History of Western Plains District

The Museum opens the New Year with a presentation by Pat Turner Ritchie, a local author, historian, and Fulks Run native. She has done extensive research into the history of the area and is well known for her work in the genealogy of area settlers.

The Barrenness of a Cemetery

In recognition of Black History Month Charity L. Derrow, a graduate of JMU, will present her research, The Barrenness of a Cemetery. The project looks into the early history of the African American Community in Broadway, VA centering around gravestones found in the Linville Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
